Über diesen Ort
The Miroir d'eau, or Water Mirror, is the delightful centrepiece at the southern end of the Promenade du Paillon, the green park that opened in 2013 and reshaped the centre of Nice. Covering around three thousand square metres, it is one of the largest water mirrors in the world. A thin film of water spreads across the pale stone to reflect the sky and surrounding facades, then one hundred and twenty eight hidden jets erupt in choreographed bursts, sending mist up to five metres into the air. Children and adults alike wander through the cool spray all summer long. The mirror sits directly above the river Paillon, a flood prone torrent that Nice began covering over from 1867, land that long lay buried beneath a bus station before being reclaimed as this joyful public space.
