Sobre este lugar
Les Halles d'Avignon is the covered market where the city shops, a single hall on the Place Pie humming from early morning with stallholders, cooks and regulars. Behind the everyday business lies a feast of Provence: olives and tapenade, goat cheeses, saucisson, glistening fish, bright mounds of fruit and vegetables, and the herbs that scent the region's cooking. The building itself is a plain modern block raised in the nineteen seventies, but in two thousand and five the botanist Patrick Blanc clothed its north face in a spectacular vertical garden, a living wall of ferns and flowering plants that turns a dull facade into a sheet of green. It is the perfect place to taste the flavours of the south and watch Avignon go about its daily life.
