Sobre este lugar
On a corner where the Rue de la Martinière meets the Quai Saint-Vincent, a six storey gable wall has been transformed into a complete illusion. What appears to be a classic Lyon building, with ochre walls, shutters, iron balconies and lit windows, is in fact entirely flat and painted. This is the Fresque des Lyonnais, created by the Lyon collective CitéCreation across 1994 and 1995 and covering some eight hundred square metres. Peopling its painted windows are thirty figures who shaped the city, from the Roman emperor Claudius, born here in ancient Lugdunum, to the physicist Ampere, the weaver Jacquard, the poet Louise Labe, the Lumiere brothers, the writer Antoine de Saint-Exupery with his Little Prince, and the chef Paul Bocuse. It is the best known of the roughly one hundred painted walls that have made Lyon the capital of mural art.
