El Tubo

A dense, atmospheric warren of narrow lanes in the old town, crammed with traditional tapas bars and taverns, the beating heart of Zaragoza's famously sociable eating and drinking scene.

À propos de ce lieu

El Tubo, meaning the Tube or the Pipe, is the affectionate name for the dense tangle of narrow pedestrian lanes near the Plaza de España, and it is the gastronomic soul of Zaragoza. Packed into these alleys are dozens upon dozens of tapas bars, taverns and old-fashioned eateries, many of them generations old, their counters laden with small plates of food. This is the home of the local ritual of the tapeo or ir de tapas, strolling from bar to bar with friends, ordering a drink and a little dish at each, standing at the counter or spilling out into the lanes. Aragonese specialities abound, from ternasco, young roast lamb, to borrajas, local greens, and the small open sandwiches and skewers known as tapas and pinchos. Noisy, convivial and utterly authentic, El Tubo is where Zaragoza comes to enjoy itself.
