Su questo luogo
Often called the most Italian of Bordeaux's squares, the Place du Parlement was created in 1754 during the sweeping modernization of the city led by the royal intendant Tourny. Originally named the Place du Marche Royal, or Royal Market Square, it is enclosed on all sides by harmonious eighteenth century Louis XV facades with wrought iron balconies and carved mascarons. Its present name honors the old Parlement of Bordeaux, one of the great sovereign courts of justice swept away by the Revolution in 1790. A neo baroque fountain inaugurated in 1865 bubbles at the center, and today the square is one of the liveliest dining spots in the old town.
