Über diesen Ort
The Rue des Forges is often called the most beautiful street in Dijon, lined with the richly carved townhouses of the medieval merchants who grew wealthy on cloth and wine. For centuries it served as the city's principal thoroughfare, running toward the palace of the Dukes of Burgundy. Its jewel is the Hôtel Chambellan at number 34, a flamboyant Gothic mansion built by a family of drapers in the late 15th century, with a courtyard staircase crowned by a carved gardener. Nearby stand the Renaissance Maison Milsand of around 1560 and the Hôtel Aubriot, and most of the houses are protected as historic monuments.
