The €3.3 Million Ram-Raid - Königsallee

On Monday, 14 December 2020, a stolen car rammed the side entrance of the Breguet boutique on the Königsallee at 9:56 in the morning. Three masked raiders swept more than 40 watches worth €3.3 million from the display cases in under two minutes, then fled on waiting motorcycles.

Sobre este lugar

The Königsallee is the kind of street where the very concept of a smash-and-grab robbery feels surreal: a tree-lined canal boulevard running through Düsseldorf's luxury quarter, home to Chanel, Hermès and the corner boutique of Breguet, one of the world's oldest watchmakers. Yet on the morning of 14 December 2020, a team of three executed one of Germany's most brazen jewellery heists in plain sight. A stolen Opel Vectra with cloned Cologne plates accelerated into the Blumenstraße side entrance, and two masked men with a firearm and pepper spray were inside before staff could react. They swept more than 40 timepieces and a bracelet, worth €3.3 million in total, before sprinting to two waiting motorcycles. The getaway bikes were dumped at the edge of the Hofgarten, and within a week Serbian police had recovered the entire haul. The Landgericht Düsseldorf eventually handed sentences of nine and eleven years to two of the three robbers, the third remaining at large. Today the only visible scar is a row of steel bollards at the base of the building, installed to stop a repeat that nearly happened anyway in June 2022.
