Sobre este lugar
The Eckensee sits at the centre of the Oberer Schlossgarten, the upper section of Stuttgart's sprawling palace park that once formed the private pleasure grounds of the Kings of Wurttemberg. Though the setting is centuries old, the lake in its present form was created in 1961 for the Federal Garden Show, when the formal Baroque gardens behind the New Palace were reshaped into flowing open parkland. Slender fountain jets play across its surface, muffling the surrounding traffic with the soft hiss of falling water, while plane trees lean over the banks. Across the water rises the columned neoclassical home of the Staatstheater Stuttgart, and nearby stand the Landtag of Baden-Wurttemberg and the Kunstgebaude, making this one of the most photographed and most beloved corners of the whole city.
