Sobre este lugar
The Rambla de la Llibertat is the main promenade and social heart of Girona's old town, a handsome, lively avenue running parallel to the river Onyar. One side is lined with a continuous medieval arcade, a portico of pointed and rounded stone arches sheltering shops and cafes, their origins going back to the thirteenth century when this was a market street. The other side opens toward the river and its painted houses. Shaded by plane trees and furnished with benches, the Rambla has been the place for the citizens of Girona to stroll, meet, shop and do business for seven centuries. Its cafes spill out beneath the arcades, a flower market and other stalls often fill the space, and in the evenings it fills with the crowds taking their paseo. Elegant, atmospheric and always busy, it is the perfect introduction to the rhythm of life in the old town.
