Sobre este lugar
Valencia's Central Market, the Mercat Central, is one of the most beautiful and best-loved market halls in Europe. Completed in 1928 in the exuberant Valencian modernist style, it is a feast of ironwork, coloured glass, ceramic tiles and sculpted stone, spread beneath great domes that flood the interior with light. Covering a huge area, it houses around a thousand stalls selling the astonishing bounty of the Valencian countryside and coast: mountains of oranges and vegetables from the fertile huerta, fresh fish and seafood, cured meats, rice for the region's famous paella, spices, cheeses and sweets. Look up and you will find a wealth of decorative details, including a cupola topped by a weathervane in the shape of a cotorra, a parrot. It remains a genuine, bustling working market and a glorious place to feel the flavour of the city.
