Sobre este lugar
The MuCEM, the Museum of the Civilisations of Europe and the Mediterranean, stands at the very tip of the old J4 pier where the land of Marseille runs out into the sea. Designed by the architect Rudy Ricciotti and opened in 2013, when the city reigned as European Capital of Culture, it was the first great national museum in France devoted to the shared cultures of the entire Mediterranean world. Its dark cube is wrapped in a lattice of ultra high performance concrete, evoking the carved screens of North African architecture and throwing shifting shadows across the galleries. A slender footbridge links its rooftop terrace to Fort Saint-Jean.
