The Harbour Promenade & Lighthouse (Mole)

The lakeside harbour where excursion boats set off across Lake Constance and a slender lighthouse marks the tip of the flower-lined pier. From here the view opens across the water to the German and Swiss shores.

À propos de ce lieu

Bregenz Harbour has been the heart of the city's connection to the water since the Middle Ages, and the stone pier you can walk today, known locally as the Blumenmolo or flower mole, stretches out into Lake Constance with a lighthouse at its very tip. The harbour as we see it took shape between 1842 and 1850 and was enlarged several times as steamships and excursion traffic grew. Today the redesigned mole is one of the most popular spots in town, a place where the broad expanse of the lake meets the promenade, where the famous sunset steps draw crowds at dusk, and where the boats of the Vorarlberg Lines cast off for cruises toward Lindau, the Rhine delta, and the far shores shared by three countries.
