À propos de ce lieu
The Real Alcázar of Seville is one of the most beautiful palaces in the world and the oldest royal palace still in use anywhere in Europe; the Spanish royal family still stays in its upper rooms. Begun by Seville's Moorish rulers, it was transformed by Christian kings who, far from erasing the Islamic style, embraced it. The jewel of the complex is the Palacio de Don Pedro, built in the 1360s for the Castilian king Pedro the First by Muslim craftsmen in the dazzling Mudéjar style, a riot of intricately carved stucco, cedar ceilings, horseshoe arches and glittering tilework around tranquil courtyards like the Patio de las Doncellas. Beyond the palace stretch extensive gardens of palms, orange trees, pools, fountains and secret corners. The otherworldly beauty of the Alcázar has made it a favourite film location, standing in for the kingdom of Dorne in the television series Game of Thrones.
