About this place
This statue is one of the most photographed sites in Vienna, depicting Mozart as a serene, successful genius. However, the reality of his life was far more turbulent. He died in debt, his health shattered by overwork, and was buried in an unmarked common grave. The monument was originally located at Albertinaplatz but was moved here in 1953 to repair war damage. It stands as a testament to how the city eventually embraced the son it once neglected.
