About this place
At first glance the Font de Canaletes is easy to miss, a slender nineteenth-century iron fountain with four taps and four lamps, standing at the head of La Rambla. Yet few spots in Barcelona carry more affection. A much-loved legend promises that anyone who drinks from its waters will fall in love with Barcelona and is destined to return to the city again and again. For generations it has also been the spontaneous rallying point for supporters of FC Barcelona, who flood here to celebrate the club's triumphs in a sea of blue and garnet. In the past, fans gathered at this very corner to argue about football and read match results posted nearby, cementing its place in the city's sporting soul.
