About this place
Located at Domgasse 5, this is the only one of Mozart's dozen Viennese apartments that still exists. He lived here from 1784 to 1787, his most successful and wealthy period. The apartment was large, expensive, and filled with fine furniture, a billiard table, and a pet starling. It was here that he wrote 'The Marriage of Figaro' and the famous 'Haydn Quartets.' This site debunks the myth of the perpetually poor Mozart; for a time, he was the toast of the town.
