Unteres Belvedere & Prunkstall

The intimate former residence of Prince Eugene, now home to the revolutionary, gold-drenched masterpieces of Gustav Klimt.

About this place

While the Upper Belvedere was for show, the Lower Belvedere was where Prince Eugene actually lived. It housed his private studies and his lavish stables, the Prunkstall. Today, it houses the revolutionary works of Gustav Klimt, whose bold, uncompromising use of gold leaf perfectly echoes the opulent vision of the prince who built this estate.
