About this place
The Plaza del Obispo, the Bishop's Square, is one of the prettiest small squares in Málaga, forming a harmonious antechamber to the great cathedral. On one side rises the cathedral's main facade; on the other stands the beautiful Palacio Episcopal, the Bishop's Palace, whose warm pink, ochre and grey Baroque front, built in the eighteenth century, is considered one of the finest civil facades in the city and now serves as an exhibition space. A graceful marble fountain plays at the centre of the square, and the whole ensemble, framed by the cathedral's soaring stonework, makes a wonderful place to pause and appreciate the religious heart of Málaga. The square is a favourite spot for photographs and, during Holy Week, a key stage along the route of the city's famous and emotional processions.
