Klagenfurt Old Town Highlights
Chase the dragon through Carinthia's Renaissance capital.
What's the walk about?
Welcome to Klagenfurt am Woerthersee, the sun-warmed capital of Carinthia and a city that wears its legends proudly. This walk winds through a compact Renaissance old town of arcaded courtyards, onion-domed towers and cobbled squares, all watched over by a stone dragon that has become the city's beloved emblem. Together we will climb toward panoramic views, step into a hall glittering with painted coats of arms, linger by playful fountains, and browse a market piled high with Carinthian flavours. Along the way, the tales of a lake-conjuring sea spirit and a founding duke bring the streets to life. Lace up, keep an eye out for the winged Lindwurm, and let Klagenfurt's easy southern charm carry you from stop to stop.
